bachelor.jpgWe call those unmarried guys bachelors [ they were born with a degree. What a world!!! ]. What would we entitle those unmarried women? Ph.Ds?

I read about an article claiming that the place where you may meet with most bachelor ladies is business school. It seems like in superwomen's eyes, the title of MBA seems more attractive than guys. That's a sad and weak excuse. The author came up with six factors which might keep women from getting involved in a romance: being too aggressive, being too strong-willed, being too independent, being too feministic, hardly regret having made the choice and knows too much on how to succeed in career. In one word, no matter how pretty, smart and elegant the women are, they are, in some guys' eyes, everything but not a woman.

"There are three sorts of people in the world: men, women and women with Ph.D degrees. " That's one of the most well-known jokes originated from New Oriental School, a famous cram school for English study in China. New Oriental School is not the only place in China where people think that way. Sadly the stereotype that equals women with high degrees to masculine women still dominates in today's modern society. When you are introduced as a doctoral student to someone else, it's no surprise that you would get more sympathies than admiration. And if you are unlucky enough to be single, you deserve it simply because you will be a doctor and few Chinese men have the guts to marry a woman Ph.D.

Interestingly that in western world that's not the case. Margaret Thatcher was married. Hillary Clinton was married. Carly Fiorina was married. Most female faculties in my college have their own happy families and they are devoted to their careers as well. Are their husbands braver than Chinese counterparts? Or do they see something in a woman through her heart instead of under her cap?
