I'm sharing an apartment with another girl, which means we are sharing a big fridge too. A big fridge. Yeah, that's my pain.
When you have enough space in fridge, it would be a sin not to fill it with food and any other editable stuff. Imagine that, when you wake up from hunger at midnight and surprised to find your fridge has turned to be a stand-up air conditioner, how panic you would be!!!
In fear of starvation and boredom, I usually store all kinds of vegetables, meats and fruits. One of my everyday happiness is to see my treasure in fridge but don't touch them [ see ,it's not an eating disorder physically ] . It might be kind of sarcastic for a person on a diet that I bought ever more food than before I started the diet. Anyway, refraining myself from eating has been a pain. I won't let myself suffer more from "NO FOOD TO EAT WHEN I WANT".
Every Friday I go grocery shopping with my friends. I used to maintain a good habit to check my food first then plan what to buy. Do you notice I used the phrase "used to"? No, I'm not doing it now. Truth to tell I have no idea what's in my fridge and I don't care about it. I just can't help buying stuff I'm not gonna use and I enjoy that.
Do you know how to treat my fridgemania??? Feel free to make a comment if you run into the same problem or if you know how to cure it. All comments are welcomed.

I have the same syndrom but of different source. I regularly throw food away, not because I buy too much food, but because I eat outside too much and regularly forget to cook them in time. My fridge is ususual half empty, with all kinds of drinks. I'm lazy.
My best advise? Shop less regularly. Shop when you find out you have to.
Your first sentence made me painful enough. I am living alone, which means that nobody share the fridge with me. However, there IS a way: invite your friends for big dinners! The storage will go quickly without any waste. Remember, friends are friends; they always know exactly how to help you get through. And I would love to be one of them.
