Can't remember when it started. Now whenever there is flash stuff on webpages, Quicktime always tries to play it but it messes up by showing a broken blue icon where the flash is supposed to show up. However IE can work on that well [ I hate to say that ].
Macromedia Flash plug-in is properly installed and today I reinstalled quicktime again. The problem still exists. I know I should reinstall FF from scratch but since I've got some extensions I just don't want to bother.
Any comments? Solutions? Thanks in advance. Or if I figure this out, I"ll post it here myself.
Update: I've fixed it. Everything works fine now. Thanks to Chris' thread "View flash files in Mozilla Firefox".
1. Close Mozilla Firefox completely (File > Exit)
2. Open QuickTime
3. Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences
4. Select "Browser Plug-in" from the drop-down list
5. Click on the button that says "MIME Settings"
6. Expand the "Miscellaneous" file format section by clicking on the "+" on the left
7. Uncheck "Flash file"
8. Click "Apply" and then "OK"
9. Close QuickTime
10. Open Mozilla Firefox

The extension: MediaPlayerConnective may help you:)
Hi I searched long and hard for the solution for this problem and came up with your website/thread. It still didn't solve my problem so I just deleted the plugin associated with Quicktime to handle SWFs.
In the folder Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/Plugins there's a file called: npqtplugin9.dll
Delete that and the installed Flash should handle the rest! This is like a last resort kinda thing because eventually something is going to come up and quicktime will not work, so you'll have to reinstall quicktime, but it's working fine for me!
Hi, iv been trying to fix this prob for a week and i think it all started when i updated quicktime and made it the default player. I tried unchecking the 'flash' box and nothing. then i tried un-installing quicktime, flash, and mozilla and still nothing! until i removed the plugin 'npqtplugin9.dll', working fine now.
Thanks eddie!
wow thanks alot really , I had to live with IE for awhile because of that quicktime error in FF now im all set after deleting the file thanks alot again!!
Thanks a ton for your message. I had the same problem and tried re-installing, un-installing and all that kind of stuff... nothing worked. Till i repeated your steps exactly! Voila!!! Its perfect now. Firefox has become the best browser in the world for me!! Thanks a ton for your help

Thank you for this tip. The problem seemed to start when I did the MMF plugin. I just tried your suggestion, and now everything works perfectly.
Thanks for the fix and the easy to follow steps. I just tried it and it fixed the problem and quicktime now works just fine on Firefox. Thanks a ton!
Hello there,
I am writing to seek your help with regards to converting a video_ts.ifo file to QuickTime, I want to extract video from a family DVD that was sent to me.
I really appreciate any help you can provide.
Many thanks for your help,
Benjamin F.
It doesn't work in all cases. My MIME Settings in the Quicktime control panel do not have Flash selected, yet Quicktime is still trying to be the Firefox plugin for that MIME type (as seen by typing about:plugins in the Firefox address bar). Next step is deleting npqtplugin9.dll and/or reinstalling Quicktime
thanks! quicktime was interfering with my youtube viewing, and this fix helped me to also make quicktime stop trying to display PDFs as images.
just an alternative approach for guys having multiple browsers installed. I have Opera 9 beta, ie 7, and mozilla.
now i tried everyting what the blog said but still my problem wasn't solves, untill i did the following:
i downloaded the flash plugin for firefox (google it)
when i ran the application it only copied files into the plugin folder of opera 9 beta browser folder.
Now what i did was copied NPSWF32.dll, flashplayer.xpt & NPSWF32_FlashUtil into mozilla plugin folder, and finally the problem was solved....
