100 Photographs that Changed the World by LIFE [28 pics are available online].

The 100 Best Novels of the 20th Century by Random House & The Modern Library.

The 100 World's Most Powerful Women by Forbes. They are businesswomen, humanitarians, media mavens, and politicians. To my surprise [and disappointment], nobody from academia?

According to Elizabeth MacDonald who was in charge of investigating and fabricating the list, and senior editor of Forbes, there are three criterions that have been taken into account as following: public compliment, social prestige or status and economic influence. From my point of view, it therefore has no reason to be surprised on somewhat level that nobody's from acdemia. Forbes basically is still a notable brand offering entertainment to viewers. For instance, Melinda Gates, who has a last name symbolizing enormous amount of money, was ranked No.10 on the list because of her extraordinary experience with Bill and being co-founder of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation estimated that will be of at least $105 billion until the end of their life time.
